John E. Stambaugh (1941c-1990) was an American scholar.

Biography

Born in Harrisburg, PA. Received his PhD from Princeton University. Professor of Classical at Williams College since 1965. Specialized in the history and sociology of Greek and Roman religions and of early Christianity. Died in Williamstown, MA.
