August Dillmann (1823-1894) was a German scholar.

Biography

August Dillmann was a German orientalist and biblical scholar. Began his career as a student at the University of Tübingen. Revived the study of Ethiopic, cataloging mss. in Paris, London and Oxford. Was professor at the Universities of Tübingen, Kiel, Giessen, and finally Berlin. Gave crucial contribution to the rediscovery of OT Jewish pseudepigrapha.
