Peter Beer (1758-1838) was an Austrian Jewish scholar.

Biography

Jewish-Austrian author, educator. Representative of radical Haskalah in Hapsburg Empire. Probably first Jew to hold government appointment (1813). Wrote several works on Jewish history and ethics. Translated Josephus.
