David Daube (1909-1999) was a Jewish scholar.
Biography
Jurist. Specialist in the relations between Jewish and Roman law. Born in Germany, studied at Freiburg and Göttingen. In 1933 fled to England where he completed his doctoral studies at Cambridge in 1936. Professor of Civil law at Oxford, 1955-70. In 1970 moved to the United States to teach at the University of California at Berkeley.
