Marcus Ambivulus was the Roman governor of Judea, from 9 CE to 12 CE, under Emperor Augustus.
Biography
In 9 CE, Emperor Augustus appointed the cavalry officer Marcus Ambivulus to succeed Coponius as the Roman Prefect of Judea and Samaria. No noticeable event is recorded during his tenure, except the death of Salome I, sister of Herod the Great, who left some territories to the family of the Roman Emperor Augustus. In 13 CE Annius Rufus took Ambivulus' place.
