Diagnosed with a terminal form of cancer, Patrick Foley has returned to his native Australia to die in the peace and quiet of the wilderness. His plan is complicated, however, when he meets a young boy who has just lost his parents. Being unable to accompany the boy back to the civilized world, he takes him with him on his trip to that valley and teaches him in a rugged way how to survive.
