Mary Henry is a young woman whose life is disturbed after a car accident. She relocates to a new city, where she finds herself unable to assimilate with the locals, and becomes drawn to the pavilion of an abandoned carnival.

A variation on the story "The Hitch-Hiker" (The Twilight Zone, 22 Jan 1960), based on Lucille Fletcher's radio play "The Hitch-Hiker", first broadcast on November 17, 1941, in The Orson Welles Show on CBS Radio, narrated by Orson Welles and featuring a score written and conducted by Bernard Herrmann.
