Jehoahaz, of the House of David, was the king of Judah. He was the son of his predecessor Josiah, and the brother of his successor Jehoiakim.
- Davidic Kings: ... -> Josiah -> Jehoahaz -> Jehoiakim -> ...
Overview
After the death of Josiah in the Battle of Megiddo, his son Jehoahaz reigned only "three months." He was deposed by the Egyptians, confined at Riblah and then brought as hostage to Egypt where he died. His brother Eliakim was made king in his place, having the name changed in Jehoiakim as a sign of submission to the new rulers.
