Lelka Birnbaum (F / Poland, 1933-1945), Holocaust victim.

Biography

The Children of Bullenhuser Damm Association

Former prisoners compiled a list of the names of the children. This was published in the book “Rapport fra Neuengamme” in 1945. This includes the name of a 12-year-old girl from Poland: Birnbaum. Her full name is noted on the cover sheet of an x-ray for medical experiments by Dr. Kurt Heißmeyer: Lelka Birnbaum. Together with the other children, Lelka Birnbaum was murdered here in Bullenhuser Damm on 20 April 1945.

Up to the present, this is all we know about this girl. In 1996 a road in Hamburg-Burgwedel and a kindergarten in Hamburg-St. Pauli were named after Lelka Birnbaum.]
