Joel Carmichael (1915-2006) was an American nonfiction writer and historian. He was born December 31, 1915 in New York, NY into a Jewish family. He published biographies, translations and historical works on various subjects, especially Russian history and literature. In his highly popular books on early Christianity he supported the thesis that Jesus was a Zealot, who led a violent movement of rebellion against the Romans. Carmichael died January 27, 2006 in New York, NY.
