Menahem Avidom (1908-1995) was an Israeli composer. Born in Stanislaviv, Austria-Hungary, in 1908, Avidom emigrated to Mandate Palestine in 1925. He studied at the American University of Beirut (from 1926 to 1928), and at the Paris Conservatory (from 1928 to 1931). He started teaching at the Tel Aviv Conservatory in 1935, then at the Music Teacher's Training College. From 1945, he served as general secretary of the Israeli Philharmonic; in 1955 he was named director of ACUM, the Israeli Performing Rights Society.
