According to Christian tradition, Tabitha / Dorcas was a member of the early Church, who was healed by Peter.

Overview

Tabitha is introduced as a respected "disciple" of Jesus. Her name (in the Aramaic and Greek versions means gazelle).

The Acts of Apostles tells that she lived in Joppa and was renowned for her charity. Peter is said to have come from nearby Lydda to miraculously raise her from the dead.
