Cerialis was of Sabine origins. During the [[Jewish War]], in the summer of 69 CE, he was in charge of subduing the region of the [[Idumeans]], including the cities of [[Caphethra]], [[Caphatabira]], and [[Hebron]]. He then participated in the [[Siege of Jerusalem]] as legatus of Legio V Macedonica. He was governor of Judea in the year immediately following the Fall of Jerusalem, 70-71.
