==Overview==

According to the Acts of Apostles, Agabus was a member of the Church in Jerusalem, known for his prophetic abilities. He was said to have predicted the famine at the time of Claudius (around 45 CE) an then (in 58 CE) the arrest of Paul.

There is no further reference to Agabus in the New Testament. Later Christian tradition identified him as one of the [[Seventy Disciples]] and narrated his martyrdom at Antioch.
