Born in Brooklyn NY to Italian immigrants, Bevilacqua served as Archbishop of Pittsburgh (1983-88) and Archbishop of Philadelphia (1988-2003). In 1991 he was the second Italian-American Bishop to be elevated to the cardinalate by Pope John Paul II. Died in Wynnewood, PA.
