The Secret Garden (Frances Hodgson Burnett, 1911)

Other adaptations

The first film adaptation of the 1911 novel by Frances Hodgson Burnett was produced in the United States in 1919. The silent film, now lost, was directed by Gustav von Seyffertitz, starring Lila Lee (Mary), Richard Rosson (Colin), Paul Willis (Dickon), and Spottiswoode Aitken (Archibald Craven).

The BBC produced three adaptations of the novel: in 1952, 1960 and 1975. Only the 1975 adaptation in 7 episodes is known to exist in its entirety. The 1952 adaptation is missing all eight episodes and the 1960 adaptation is missing three of its eight episodes.
