Caspar René Gregory (1846-1917) was an American German scholar.

Biography

NT scholar. Born in Philadelphia, PA. After studying theology at the University of Pennsylvania and at Princeton Theological Seminary, in 1873 moved to the university of Leipzig, Germany to complete his graduate studies. He remained in Germany his entire life, pursued a successful academic career there as a New Testament professor, became a citizen of Saxony in 1881, and ultimately died in the German army where he had enlisted as volunteer in WW1.
