Francesco Carotta (b.1946) is an Italian nonfiction writer. In 1999 he offered a variant of the Jesus Myth Theory, claiming that Christianity developed from the cult of the deified Caesar. Jesus never existed; his "biography" was based on the life of Julius Caesar.
