Wladimir Rudolfowitsch Vogel (1896-1984) was a Russian Swiss composer of German descent. Vogel was born in February 1896 in Moscow [Russia] into a German-Russian family. He studied in Russia and then in Germany, where in 1929-33 he also taught at the Klindworth-Scharwenka Conservatory. With the rise of Nazism he was forced to leave Germany. After living in France, Belgium and England, he settled in Switzerland in 1939, becoming a Swiss citizen in 1954. Vogel died June 19, 1984 in Zurich [Switzerland].
