Le juif errant <French> / The Wandering Jew (1904) is a short film (3m) directed by Georges Méliès.
Abstract
Like Sue's novel, on which it is based, tells of the legend of the Jerusalem shopkeeper who refused to let Jesus rest at his door while on his way to Calvary, and thus is doomed to wander the world forever.
The curse of the Wandering Jew is told in four scenes:
- 1. « Les bords de la mer Morte »
- 2. « La vision du Christ escaladant le sommet du Golgotha»
- 3. « Les roches maudites »
- 4. « Les éléments déchaînés ».
