Ignác Goldziher (1850-1921) was a Hungarian Jewish scholar. Ignác (Yitzhaq Yehuda) Goldziher was born June 22, 1850 in Székesfehérvár [Hungary]. He was educated at the universities of Budapest, Berlin, Leipzig and Leiden. He traveled extensively in the Middle East and taught at the University of Budapest, as a specialist in pre-Islamic and Islamic law, tradition, religion and poetry. Goldziher died in Budapest on November 13, 1921.
