Michael E. Stone (b.1938) is an Israeli scholar, emeritus at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Israel.
Biography
Born at Leeds, England in 1938, Michael Stone was raised in Sydney, Australia, receiving his BA in Semitics and Classics from the University of Melbourne in 1960. He earned his PhD in Near Eastern Languages (1965) at Harvard University.
He joined the Faculty of the Hebrw UNiversity of Jerusalem in 1966. Professor of Armenian Studies and Gail Levin de Nur Professor of Religious Studies, Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Israel (1980-2007). Founder of the Orion Center for the Study of the Dead Sea Scrolls. Member of the Enoch Seminar.
