The '''Last Supper''' refers to an episode in the [[Passion of Jesus]], narrated in the Synoptic Gospels and with a different narrative by the Gospel of John.
==Overview==
According to the Synoptics, the Last Supper of Jesus with his disciples before his Arrest, was a Passover meal. The meal was marked by the institution of the Eucharist, and by the denunciation of the imminent betrayal.
The Gospel of John does not mention these events. Jesus was crucified the day before the Feast, therefore that was not a Passover meal. Instead Jesus washed the feet of his disciples.
A possible explanation is that Jesus celebrated Passover according to the (solar) calendar of the Essenes, was then arrested and executed the day before Passover was celebrated in the Temple according to the lunar calendar.
