According to Christian tradition, ''' Tabitha / Dorcas ''' was a member of the early Church, who was healed by [[Peter]].

Tabitha is introduced as a respected "disciple" of Jesus. Her name (in the Aramaic and Greek versions means ''gazelle'').
 
The Acts of Apostles tells that she lived in [[Joppa]] and was renowned for her charity. [[Peter]] is said to have come from nearby [[Lydda]] to miraculously raise her from the dead.
