Abstract
In Roman Palestine at the end of the first century Ce, Rabbi Elisha ben Avuyah, struggling with a loss of faith, turns to the study of Greek philosophy and is excommunicated by the Sanhedrin. The only novel written by the author, a Reconstructionist rabbi.
