Camoranesi was born in Argentina. He holds dual nationality (Argentinian and Italian) as his great-grandfather, Luigi, in 1873 emigrated from Potenza Picena, in Italy's Marche region, to Argentina.

Camoranesi began his career in Argentina in 1995, moved to Italy in 2003, where he spent most of his professional career (from 2000 to 2009). He had 55 appearances in the Italian National Team (2003-2010), he was a member of Italy's winning squad at the 2006 World Cup.
