Carlo Gentile (1835-1893), photographer
Born in Naples (Italy), Gentile travelled extensively around the globe and then settled in the United States. He became a skilled photographer. In 1871 he adopted a young native-American child whom he renamed Carlos Montezuma (he would grow to become a physician and the founder of the Society for American Indians). Gentile died in Chicago, IL.
