Antonio Meucci (1808-1889)

Born in Borgo San Frediano (Florence), Antonio Santi Giuseppe Meucci was an inventor and an associate of Giuseppe Garibaldi. Meucci is best known for developing a voice-communication apparatus that several sources credit as the first telephone. Died in New York.
