Salome (1934) is a ballet choreographed by Lester Horton.
Abstract
Dancer and choreographer Lester Horton got first interested in the subject of Salome, when he directed a production of Oscar Wilde's play at the Little Theatre of the Verdugos, near Glendale, California, in 1934. The play was a success and Horton was inspired to created his first "choreodrama." The ballet was first performed in Los Angeles in 1934. In the following two years, Horton kept revising it, performance after performance.
