Joseph Justus Scaliger (1540-1609) was a French Dutch scholar of Italian descent, the son of Italian humanist Giulio Cesare Scaligero (Julius Caesar Scaliger). Joseph Justus is known for expanding the notion of classical history to include Persian, Babylonian, Jewish and ancient Egyptian history. He also published in 1606 the first edition of the Enoch Fragments of Syncellus.
