Salathiel: A Story of the Past, the Present, and the Future (1827) is a novel by George Croly.
Abstract
Tells the whereabouts of Salathiel, the Wandering Jew, from the crucifixion of Jesus to the destruction of Jerusalem. He is no longer a humble shoemaker but a priest in the temple of Jerusalem and a leader of the Jewish opposition against Rome who struggles against Jewish factions and fiercely opposes Jesus. The fall of Jerusalem is seen as a consequence of the lack of national unity.
