Johann Salomo Semler

Johann Salomo Semler (1725-1791) was a German scholar. Born at Saalfeld, graduated in 1759 from the University of Halle. After working for a newspaper in Coburg for a year, moved to the University of Altdorf as professor of German history and Latin poetry and then in 1752 returned to Halle where he taught until his death.
