==Biography==
Jonathan was one of the five sons of [[Annas]] to take the office of High Priest. He succeeded his brother-in-law [[Caiaphas]], who had been removed by the Roman Governor of Syria, [[Vitellius]]. One year later, the same Vitellius replaced him with his borther [[Theophilus ben Ananus|Theophilus]].
