Arcangelo Agostini (Selvaggio Canturani) (1660c-1745) was an Italian translator.
Biography
Arcangelo Agostini was born in Venice [Italy] around 1660.
He joined the Carmelitan Order.
He published numerous translations of French works of theology and ethics, under the pseudonym Selvaggio Canturani.
Agostini died on December 15, 1746.
Works on Second Temple Judaism
Arcangelo Agostini played an important role in Italy as a translator of French scholarship in the field (Augustin Calmet, Jacques Bénigne Bousset, Claude Fleury).
