Pierre Vidal-Naquet (1930-2006) is a Jewish-French scholar.

Biography

Holocaust survivor, as a child remained hidden in France while his parents perished at Auschwitz. Professor at the Ecole pratique des hautes etudes, from 1969. As a historian, specialized in the history of Ancient Greece, as well as in issues of contemporary French history and politics. Was fascinated by the figure of Flavius Josephus and the events surrounding the Jewish War.
