Johann Karl Ludwig Gieseler (1792-1854) was a German scholar.
Biography
Born in Petershagen (near Hanover), Gieseler was educated at the University of Halle. After serving in the army, he graduated and was appointed director of the gymnasium at Cleves. In 1819 joined the Faculty of the University of Bonn, before moving in 1831 to the University of Göttingen. Gieseler was primarily a Church historian, noted for his Lehrbuch der Kirchengeschichte (1824-1857).
