An orphan escapes immigration officials at Ellis Island and goes to live with an old ship's master who can't find work and can't pay the rent.
Young Jackie Blair is traveling from Europe to America with his widowed mother, but his mother dies en route. Now an orphan, when his ship arrives at the US the immigration authorities on Ellis Island intend to deport him back to Europe, but he manages to give them the slip. He finds his way into the home of ex-seaman Captain Bill who, despite initial misgivings, grows fond of the boy.
