Born in Piedmont (Italy), Bayma joined the Jesuits. He came as a missionary to the United States. With John Nobili, he was co-founder of Santa Clara College. Died in Santa Clara, CA.
Born in Piedmont (Italy), Bayma joined the Jesuits in 1832. In 1860 he moved to Stonyhurst College, England, and from there went to the United States in 1868. He would work in Santa Clara until his death. A renown mathematician, he was also President of San Francisco University (1869-1873). Died in Santa Clara, CA.

Joseph Bayma (1816-1892) -- Jesuit priest & mathematician

Born in Piedmont (Italy), Bayma joined the Jesuits in 1832. In 1860 he moved to Stonyhurst College, England, and from there went to the United States in 1868. He would work in Santa Clara until his death. A renown mathematician, he was also President of San Francisco University (1869-1873). Died in Santa Clara, CA.
