{en} Little Women (USA, 1994), directed by Gillian Armstrong, starring Winona Ryder (Jo), Gabriel Byrne (prof. Bhaer), Trini Alvarado (Meg), Samantha Mathis (Amy), Kirsten Dunst (young Amy), Claire Danes (Beth), Christian Bale (Laurie), Eric Stoltz, Mary Wickes, and Susan Sarandon (Marmee).

It is the fifth film adaptation of the 1868 novel of the same name by Louisa May Alcott, after the two (lost) silent versions of 1917 and 1918, the first "talkie" of 1933 and the first color version of 1949. It chronicles the lives of the March sisters—Jo, Meg, Amy, and Beth—in Concord, Massachusetts, during the 19th century.

Nominated for three Academy Awards, directed by a woman, and featuring an ensemble of powerhouse actresses, it is praised one of the best adaptations of the novel. One more major film adaptation has followed in 2019.
