{de} Theresienstadt. Ein Dokumentarfilm aus dem jüdischen Siedlungsgebiet ("Theresienstadt: A Documentary Film from the Jewish Settlement Area"), directed by Kurt Gerron (Czechia 1944) <German>

Unofficially called Der Führer schenkt den Juden eine Stadt ("The Führer Gives a City to the Jews"), it was a black-and-white Nazi propaganda film, aimed to portrait Theresienstadt as an ideal ghetto where Jews lived peacefully and were well treated. The documentary was directed by the German Jewish prisoner Kurt Gerron and the Czech filmmaker Karel Pečený under close SS supervision. Particular emphasis was given to the "happy" life of the children in the camp (including scenes from a performance of the opera Brundibar). Most of the children would be send to die at Auschwitz shortly after the completion of the film.
