Erik Christian Haugaard (1923-2009) was a Danish American novelist. Born in Frederiksberg, Denmark. When the Nazis invaded Denmark in 1940, he fled to the United States, serving in the Royal Canadian Air Force. As a writer of books for young adults, he received many awards, as well as for his translation of Hans Christian Andersen's Fairy Tales and Stories (1978).
