Published in 1608. In 1640, translated into English by poet [[George Sandys]] (1578-1644).  
A classical Latin drama by the renowned jurist, philosopher and biblical scholar. Caiaphas acknowledges that the Jews do not have the right of capital punishment, but Pilate  accedes to the demands of the Jews, which makes them ultimately responsible for the death of Jesus. Among the other characters of this pious drama were Judas Iscariot, Peter, Joseph of Arimathea, and Jesus himself.

Christus patient <Latin> / Christ's Passion (1608) is a play by Hugo Grotius.

Abstract

A classical Latin drama by the renowned jurist, philosopher and biblical scholar. Caiaphas acknowledges that the Jews do not have the right of capital punishment, but Pilate accedes to the demands of the Jews, which makes them ultimately responsible for the death of Jesus. Among the other characters of this pious drama were Judas Iscariot, Peter, Joseph of Arimathea, and Jesus himself.
