Fourth Ezra: A Commentary (1990) is a book by Michael E. Stone.

Abstract

Stone rejected the documentary hypothesis in the composition of 4 Ezra and strongly advocated the unity of the text.

4 Ezra is not a literary representation of a theological debate external to the author; it is rather a reflection of his own divided mind, of his own internal struggle. "The religious experiences described in 4 Ezra... were the actual experiences of the author" (p.33).

Editions

Published in Minneapolis, MN: Fortress, 1990 (Hermeneia); edited by Frank M. Cross.
