Markus Barth (1915-1994) was a Swiss scholar. The son of Karl Barth, Markus studied Theology at Bern, Basel, Berlin, and Edinburgh. He received his PhD in 1947 from the University of Göttingen. From 1953 to 1972 lived and taught in the United States, in Dubuque (Iowa), Chicago, and Pittsburgh. From 1973 to 1985 he was Professor of New Testament in Basel, Switzerland.
