The Gospel of the Beloved Disciple: A Work in Two Editions (2005) is a book by Herman C. Waetjen.

Abstract

Waetjen argues that the "first edition" of the Gospel of John (John 1-20) originated in Alexandria, Egypt, and Lazarus was the Beloved Disciple.

The revised "second edition" (with modifications and the addition of John 21) was carried out at Ephesus. The Beloved Disciple was now intended to be John son of Zebedee.
