Ted Neeley

Ted Neeley (b.1943) is an American singer and actor. After playing the character of Jesus of Nazareth for the musical Jesus Christ Superstar in Los Angeles (1972), he was the protagonist of the cinematic version in 1973. For his performance in the film, he received nominations for "Best Motion Picture Actor in a Musical or Comedy", as well as "Best Newcomer", at the 1974 Golden Globe Awards. Neely has continued to play the role of Jesus of Nazareth on stage in numerous productions in the United States and abroad.
