Erodiade <Italian> / Herodias (1984) is a stage production, the Milan premiere of Erodiade (Herodias / 1969 Testori), play, directed by the Author.

Abstract

Giovanni Testori wrote Erodiade as a literary piece, a monologue of Herodias on the death of John the Baptist. In spite of its inclusion in the programs of the Piccolo Teatro of Milan in 1969 and 1970, the play was never performed in its first version. Testori revised it for performance in 1984 (as Erodiade), when it was staged by actress Adriana Innocenti. The show was often restaged in Italy, with great success.

Editions, performances, translations

Premiered in Milan, Italy: Teatro di Porta Romana, 22 October 1984.
