Erodiade / Erodiàs <Italian> (1969) is a play by Giovanni Testori.
Abstract
Giovanni Testori wrote Erodiade as a literary piece, a monologue of Herodias on the death of John the Baptist. In spite of its inclusion in the programs of the Piccolo Teatro of Milan in 1969 and 1970, the play was never performed. Testori revised it for performance in 1984 (as Erodiade), when it was staged by actress Adriana Innocenti. Testori wrote another revised version of the piece shortly before his death (published posthumously as Erodiàs in 1994). This third version was first staged in 1998 by actor Sandro Lombardi.
