Overview

According to the Acts of Apostles, Paul spent two years in Caesarea Maritima, where he had friendly relations with the Roman governors Felix (and his Jewish wife Drusilla), and Festus. Paul also met Herod Agrippa II and his sister Berenice. The historicity of these meetings is dubious, at least in the terms in which they are recorded. However, Paul was protected more than imprisoned by the Roman authority. As a Roman citizen, he had the right to be judged in Rome, and he was more than eager to take this opportunity to finally visit Rome.
