Spartacus (2010-13) is a TV series (sound, color) in 4 seasons, created by Steven S. DeKnight.
Abstract
In Season 1 (Blood and Sand), actor Andy Whitfield was cast as Spartacus. After the completion of the first season, however, Whitfield got sick and eventually died. During his illness, it was decided to produce a prequel to the story (Gods of the Arena), where the character of Spartacus is not present. Liam McIntyre replaced Whitfield as Spartacus in Season 2 (Vengence) and 3 (War of the Damned).
The Tv series focuses on the ingredients of violence and sex present in the story of Spartacus and totally ignore the Jewish connection, so prominently featured in other adaptations.
Production
Produced in the United States (2010-13). Premiered on Starz on January 22, 2010, and concluded on April 12, 2013.
Synopsis
- Season 1: Spartacus: Blood and Sand (13 episodes; 2010) -- The training of Spartacus as a gladiator
